High Sierra Snowcat and Yurt is a backcountry guide service for skiing and snowboarding in the Eastern Sierra. High Sierra operates two snowcats and two backcountry yurts. Clients get the unique experience of backcountry skiing with snowcat access and the ability to sleep in backcountry yurts in the zone they skied that day. We recently redesigned the High Sierra Snowcat & Yurt website to coincide with the new brand position, which now offers fully guided backcountry trips. Previously the backcountry operation only offered shuttle service to their yurt in the Eastern Sierra.
For the new design, we focused on a simplified and more experience-oriented design approach, which reflects the new target audiences. For the reboot of this website, we reexamined the website usability, target audiences, calls to action, and developed ways to streamline product offerings for online purchase. Online trip booking is fully integrated and easily managed on the backend of the website. The new layout is much more engaging and integrates dynamic content with video, social media feeds, immersive navigation, testimonials, online booking, and a detailed knowledgebase for trip planning. The Guide Trips page is a landing page designed to inspire the user with big images of people enjoying the experience of a guided trip.
